FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys have issued a tender to exclusive rights free agent David Irving to keep the 23-year-old defensive end in Dallas for the 2017 season.

The tender is worth $615,000.

Thursday is the deadline for teams to extended offers to exclusive rights free agents, who have less than three accrued seasons in the NFL and cannot negotiate with other teams unless they’re not offered tenders by their current clubs.

In his second season with the Cowboys, Irving tallied a career-high four sacks and 26 quarterback pressures. He played 46 percent of the defense’s regular-season snaps at defensive end and tackle, though he turned heads last Oct. 16 with only 19 snaps: three forced fumbles in the Cowboys’ road win over the Green Bay Packers.
